Bjarne Bergh is an INFORMED AI Hub Postdoctoral Research Associate based in the Department of Pure Mathematics and Mathematical Statistics, at the University of Cambridge. From 2020 to 2024 he completed his PhD in the department Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics in Cambridge, and he previously received his undergraduate degree in Physics from the University of Heidelberg, Germany.
Bjarne works on quantum information theory with a particular focus on quantum Shannon theory and its applications. He is interested in various aspects of information processing with quantum devices, in particular quantum hypothesis testing and the associated study of quantum entropies and divergences, but also aspects of quantum cryptography and the use of quantum resources in distributed settings.
Recent works include:
Composite Classical and Quantum Channel Discrimination (Bergh, Datta, Salzmann), https://arxiv.org/abs/2303.02016
Parallelization of Adaptive Quantum Channel Discrimination in the Non-Asymptotic Regime (Bergh, Datta, Salzmann, Wilde), https://arxiv.org/abs/2206.08350
Bjarne’s work for INFORMED AI will be developed with Nilanjana Datta. More details in due course. Please contact Bjarne at bb536@cam.ac.uk.
